The refreshing waters of the Khwai bring all manner of species out of the drier woodlands to quench their thirst each day. Larger species such as Elephant, Buffalo and Giraffe all roam between the two contrasting ecosystems. Hippo and Lechwe and a myriad of bird species reside over the floodplains surrounding the main Khwai channel. As we take to the skies above Khwai and cruise upstream to the east, the channel broadens into a network of islands and waterways. From above the elephant highways become visible with the white Okavango sands shimmering in the clear water.
